Background Flatrock Hunting Preserve, Inc. is a family business operated by Merrill Carrigan. Many areas residents know Merrill, a farmer and an avid, knowledgeable hunter, from his more than three decades as a conservation-minded biology teacher and naturalist. Big
Flatrock River
played an important role in the life of pioneer Rush
County, and especially Orange Township where the hunting
preserve is located. Mills, covered bridges and stone
quarries cropped up on its winding limestone banks. It
remains an outstanding fishery for small mouth bass and
pan fish and is popular with canoeists and other
outdoors lovers. |
